Conference venue

|

Abundant sunshine, lush vegetation, and panoramic views of an enchanting mountain-and-lake setting: Lugano offers an inviting backdrop for this 41st Annual EFA Meeting.

The location for the conference is the Palazzo dei Congressi. The convention center is centrally located, close to the heart of the city’s financial and recreational facilities and right next to the splendid municipal park, Parco Ciani, and the lakeshore. That means that conference participants can easily stroll over to the popular city center and its many outdoor cafés.

One of the most appealing aspects of the Palazzo dei Congressi is its uncluttered hallways, wide stairways and outside terraces, spacious yet people-friendly – an ideal environment for networking between sessions.

Getting to Palazzo dei Congressi

Public Transportation System

Lugano has an efficient public transportation system that makes the whole Lugano district easily accessible.

The Palazzo dei Congressi bus stop is located in front of the main entrance of the building.

Three bus lines serve this stop:

  • Line 2 (Paradiso - Castagnola),
  • Line 3 (Breganzona - Cornaredo),
  • Line 5 (Lamone Cadempino - Viganello).

Tickets can be purchased directly at bus stops via an automated ticket machine, or at the Lugano train station, or at the funicular railway ticket office. A ticket is valid for one hour after purchase and can be used for all busses as well as the funicular. Please note that train tickets for the Ticino region may or may not be valid for additional public transportation services, check with the ticket seller upon purchase for additional transport information using that train ticket.

Parking

About 250 parking spaces are available directly in front of Palazzo dei Congressi. Since parking can be limited, we generally recommend that visitors avoid coming by car if possible. Other information about parking can be found on the Lugano city website.

Tips

Lugano is a busy city; we recommend avoiding rush hours (morning 7.30-9.00 and afternoon 17.00-19.00) by using public transportation or enjoying a relaxing walk rather than driving.
